Following a long period of consultation with Plymouth City Council, detailed planning consent was eventually granted for 22 new homes at 273 Tavistock Road. 12 being allocated for affordable rent with the remaining 10 units offered as shared ownership by our client Housing Association, Westcountry H.A.
The newly approved scheme included the demolition of the derelict Victorian Villa together with a new adopted highway and comprehensive landscaping. The site was found to be of high ecological value and several new bat boxes were incorporated in each of the houses.
A live main foul sewer crossing the site was carefully diverted by specialists Ryearch Ltd, who also undertook the building works under contract to ED&B. All of the units were constructed utilising a timber framed solution with the external cladding being rendered and colour washed with Eternit infill panels.
Each unit achieved Code Level 3, by incorporating photovoltaic panels on the pitched roof.
